The Story Behind FGMOCA

Full Gospel Mission Outreach Community Alliance (FGMOCA) was born from a simple desire to help people during one of the most challenging periods in recent history.

Founded by Ursula Morfaw, a dedicated healthcare professional and community advocate, FGMOCA began during the COVID-19 pandemic as a small informal network of approximately ten women and men who came together to support one another and assist families facing uncertainty, isolation, financial hardship, and emotional stress.

As a frontline nurse, Ursula witnessed firsthand the profound impact that the pandemic had on individuals, families, seniors, newcomers, and vulnerable members of the community. Recognizing the importance of community support and collective action, she worked alongside a group of committed volunteers to provide encouragement, practical assistance, information sharing, and social support to those in need.

What began as a small grassroots initiative soon evolved into a growing movement of people dedicated to helping others. As community needs expanded, so did the organization’s vision and activities. The group began developing programs focused on education, social inclusion, digital literacy, leadership development, healthy aging, newcomer integration, youth empowerment, and family support.

Today, FGMOCA has grown into a vibrant and dynamic community organization serving individuals and families throughout Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo, and surrounding communities. Through collaborative partnerships, volunteer engagement, and community-driven initiatives, FGMOCA continues to create opportunities that empower people, strengthen families, and foster resilient communities.

Our growth reflects the power of compassion, collaboration, and community leadership. While much has changed since our humble beginnings, our commitment remains the same: helping individuals and communities thrive through support, empowerment, and meaningful engagement.

We are proud of our journey and excited about the future as we continue working alongside community members, partners, volunteers, and supporters to create lasting positive impact.
